Check out the Kick-Ass Movie Trailer (or not)
I’m going to go on record as saying that I really tried to like the Kick-Ass comic. I generally like Mark Millar’s work and, while I love the concept and the first few issues were somewhat enjoyable, I ended dropping the title by issue three. I just am not a fan of over-the-top violence. Especially when it’s simple over-the-top violence for over-the-top violence sake (hence the reason that I avoid most Quentin Tarantino movies). Seeing an eight year-old girl slice the head off someone and then using some of the foulest words in the English language does absolutely nothing for me…except maybe weep a little that this is what our society finds “entertaining”.
But, that being said, I’d be remiss in my duties as the Geek Speaker if I didn’t at least mention the trailer for the movie adaptation of Kick-Ass. I don’t know if they are toning down any of the violence for the movie (last I heard, they weren’t), so the trailer is a bit deceptive. Sure, it shows that these are not your average super-heroes like Superman, Batman, Spider-Man or even Iron Man. But I honestly don’t know if this really prepares the audience for the potential level of violence the movie might have. Seriously, this is one messed up comic book. And if the movie is even half that, it’s gonna be bloody. REAL BLOODY.
Now, I don’t plan on seeing this because of all the reasons that I mentioned above, and, truth be told, I really hope the movie is not a big success. But, I know that a lot of our readers like this kind of stuff. So, for you, I present the trailer to Kick-Ass.
Kick-Ass is scheduled to be released in April 2010. Geek Speaker plans on being busy that day.
