EW Provides First Look at Ryan Reynolds as GL
Entertainment Weekly is putting out their annual Comic-Con preview issue and are giving us our first look at Ryan Reynolds in costume from the upcoming Green Lantern film.
My first impression: YUCK!
I will say that it’s just a photo and that in the movie, with special effects and movement, the costume might work, but based on this one image, I’m not impressed. The mask looks painted on. And what’s with the costume veins? Where’s the black parts that made the costume so classic looking? Sorry, but to me, it looks like it should be Ryan Reynolds starring as The Green Pickle instead of the Green Lantern.
HOWEVER… I will wait to reserve judgment until I see some footage. After all, I was definitely a nu-Enterprise hater when I saw the first pics from last year’s Star Trek and I was promptly slapped down when I saw this ship in action (still hate that bridge, though). So, until the film is released next year, all I can do is hope and pray that he won’t always look like a flying pickle.

We have our first documented GSB dispute, now….’cause I think this first shot of Ryan decked out in the green looks grand. I like the hinting of musculature in the suit; sort of seems to be saying the green really is a part of the Lantern. But, as Kermit teaches us, it’s not easy being green…. ~running out of reach of the Geekspeaker, now~
