From the Blackest Night comes the Brightest Day
More news coming from camp DC regarding Brightest Day. Keep reading below for more information and some new images from the post-Blackest Night DCU.
The folks at DC Universe: The Source have announced a new 26-issue, biweekly series running after the conclusion of Blackest Night, titled, appropriately enough Brightest Day. According to the site, the series, which will launch in April of this year, will be written by current Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps scribes Geoff Johns and Peter J. Tomasi. Both Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps will feature Brightest Day banners as well. No official artists were announced yet, but Fernando Pasarin will be doing the art for issue 0. Given the tight schedule, a rotation of artists is likely.
DC has also announced that there will be more titles under the Brightest Day banner, the first one being The Flash. The previously announced series which stars recently returned speedster Barry Allen, the series will be written by BD writer Geoff Johns with art by Francis Manapul. Also announced under the banner will be Justice League of America, starting with issue #44. The Justice Society of America guest stars in the issue. We have the covers for both books below.
Also announced under the Brightest Day banner is a relaunch of the Titans series. With a new creative team and a far different direction, the new team will be lead by DC baddie Deathstroke the Terminator and feature characters such as Tattooed Man, Cheshire and other unnamed villains. Eric Wallace will be writing with Fabrizio Fiorentino handling art chores. The relaunch begins with Titans: Villains for Hire Special.
And for the last update from DC today, previously announced DC exclusive artist David Finch will be handling the cover chores for the Brightest Day mini.
From Dan DiDio on DCU: The SourceAs some of you may have noticed, we announced last week that David Finch had joined the DCU exclusively. We’ll be announcing more details about his projects in the coming months. But first, we’re excited to announce that he’ll be the regular cover artist on all the BRIGHTEST DAY books. I see this as a wonderful way to have David touch on all aspects of the DCU, and it gives fans the chance to see his interpretation of the entire DCU and its characters.
