Green Lantern Casting News

Blake Lively has been cast as Carol Ferris in Green Lantern movieWell, the film version of everyone’s favorite emerald ringslinger seems to be filling out their cast. Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) has been cast as Carol Ferris, Hal Jordan’s boss, on-again off-again lover and sometime Green Lantern foe, Star Sapphire. Not sure how great a fit that is, considering that she’s just 22 years old, compared to Ryan Reynolds 33 years of age. I keep having visions of Superman Returns and the 12-year old Lois Lane.

Pete Sarsgaard has been cast as Green Lantern foe Hector HammondWord came today, though, that Peter Sarsgaard (Orphan, Jarhead) has been cast as GL foe Hector Hammond. Readers of the series know that Hammond was a private consultant who worked for Ferris Aircraft and had an odd fixation on all things Carol Ferris. Later, he was exposed to a meteor that granted him telepathic powers at the cost of a head so swollen and large he required gear to keep is head in place.

Green Lantern is schedule to hit theaters on June 17, 2011.
