Well, it must be Monday because Diamond Comics has released their list of comicy goodness that’s being released this Wednesday, July 1^st. Personally, it’s not that big of a week for me, but that’s probably because I’ve cut back a lot. I’m burnt out on event and over-hyped books.

But that doesn’t mean there’s not stuff I’m looking forward to…including:

GREEN LANTERN CORPS #38: With Blackest Night starting in just two weeks, you can be sure that this weeks GLC is going to be chock full of action and adventure. In this issue, we see the conclusion to the riots in the Oan Sciencells, as well as yet another new law written into the Book of Oa. And it sounds like Guy and Kyle aren’t too happy about it, either. This is the last issue before they start crossing over with Blackest Night so I wouldn’t be too surprised if this ones got a surprise or two at the end.

Justice League: Cry for Justice #1: So, the basics of it is that Hal Jordan is sick and tired of the JLA being a reactive force, and breaks off on his own to be a more proactive force for real justice in the DCU. Now, we’ve seen this kind of story before, but we’ve never seen it threw the eyes of one James D. Robinson, comic writer extraordinairre. This version of the League has a line-up including Green Arrow, Supergirl, Atom, Shazam, Starman (the blue one…from Robinson’s run on Starman!), and Congorilla…wait…what?! Well, if Robinson’s writing, he’s sure to make even Congorilla cool. And Mauro Cascioli’s art just looks stunning. This one’s got “Instant Classic” written all over it!

Secret Six # 11: Okay…if you aren’t reading Gail Simone’s Secret Six, I suggest you run, not walk, to your nearest comic shop and buy up all the back issues. This is just a fun book. Sure, it’s full of killers and villains. Sure, it’s been pretty dark on occasions (don’t even get me started about how creepy Ragdoll’s sister was!). But this book just gets me excited. At it’s heart, this book is about shades of grey; these people are looked at as villains, and they are by no means saints, but you still can find plenty of redeeming characteristics in all of them…including Deadshot. In this issue, the Six come face-to-face with former Wonder Woman, Artemis, as she’s been held as a slave by a mysterious new enemy. Seriously, check out Secret Six!

Captain America Reborn #1: It’s no big surprise that Steve Rogers is returning to the Marvel Universe; we all knew it was going to happen. The real question is how they are bringing him back. We saw a bit of a clue in Captain America #600, when Sharon Carter, the woman who supposedly shot and killed Cap, found the ‘murder’ weapon, only to discover that it wasn’t a ‘normal’ gun…whatever the hell that’s supposed to mean. I’m interested to see how they pull this off. Considering their competition has brought back two major heroes in the last 4-5 years and done it extremely well, I can’t wait to see Marvel’s take on bringing back their major powerhouse
