Sam Worthington to Star in The Last Days of American Crime Adaptation

The Last Days of American Crime hits stores in December. Sam Worthington will star and produce the film adaptationSam Worthington, star of the upcoming Avatar, has signed on to star and produce the film adaptation of The Last Days of American Crime, based on the Radical Publishing comic book series of the same name. Worthington will produce along with his partner, Michael Schwarz, as well as Radical Publishing president and publisher, Barry Levine. Rick Remender, the creator of the series, will serve as both the executive producer and screenwriter.

Set in the not-too-distant future, The Last Days of American Crime sees the U.S. government secretly planning to broadcast a signal making it impossible for anyone to knowingly commit unlawful acts. The government uses the conversion to a new currency system using digital charge cards as a distraction to keep the plot a secret from U.S. citizens. A petty criminal, Graham Bricke plans on stealing one of the new charging station and leave the country, living off unlimited funds. When news of the anti-crime signal before it is to go live, Bricke and his team have just a few days to turn the heist into the last crime in American history.

Last Days of American Crime will be on shelves starting in December as a bi-monthly three-issue miniseries and will feature artwork by Greg Tocchini. No word yet when the film adaptation will be in theatres.
