James Robinson returns to Starman this January for a special Blackest Night One-Shot!Newsarama.com is reporting that DC’s mega-hit event, Blackest Night will take a break in January for a series of one-shots. But not just any old one-shots. Since dead heroes are popping up all over the DCU, the publisher has decided to bring back more than just dead heroes…they’re bringing back dead titles.

Fan-favorite titles and writers abound during this event. Perhaps the biggest and best news (at least, to me!) is that James Robinson will be returning to one of his most popular characters & titles: Starman.

The one-shots pick up the numbering from the defunct series and are written by a host of DC faves. Titles include:

  • The Power of Shazam! #48 by Eric Wallace
  • The Question #37 by Greg Rucka
  • Suicide Squad #67 by John Ostrander
  • Phantom Stranger #42 by Peter Tomasi
  • Catwoman #83 by Fabian Nicieza
  • The Atom and Hawkman #46 by Geoff Johns
  • Weird Western Tales#71 by Dan DiDio
  • Starman #81 by James Robinson

Artists will be announced at a later date. According to Newsarma, all the issues will tie into the ongoing Blackest Night series.

From Newsarama.com

Each of the one-shots will take place in current continuity and will tie into Blackest Night by featuring at least one Black Lantern interacting with the title characters. However, DiDio indicated Starman will be a special issue where Robinson will “pick up some threads” from the end of the writer’s critically acclaimed series.

I don’t know about you all, but this is just a huge joygasm for me! Johns back on Hawkman? A new Starman issue! It’s like Christmas will last throughout the entire month of January! Blackest Night has been one of the most exciting series for me in a long time and, while I usually hate all the tie-ins and mini-series that are associated with an event like this, they have all been pretty spot on. I’m hoping these are not exception. Still…Robinson…on Starman.

Life is good!
