Is Cassandra Cain the new Batgirl?

DC Comics has released another teaser image for their upcoming ‘Batgirl’ series. While it looks like someone is donning the original BG outfit, the question still remains, “Who is Batgirl?”

Based on the teaser images, I’m inclined to think that it’s NOT Barbara Gordon, which I, for one, would be grateful. To me, Barbara’s character is much more three-dimensional since she’s become Oracle, and I’d hate to see them cop out and have her miraculously start walking again and jump right into the butt kicking.

The obvious choice would be Cassandra Cain. It would make sense, as she’s been a pretty popular character since her inception a decade ago. It would be the safe bet.

Or is Barbara Gordon making her comeback?

But what if there was a third option? All throughout the recent Oracle: The Cure mini-series, readers were waiting to see if Barbara Gordon regained the use of her legs, which (some spoilers here on out…so be warned!)

she didn’t. At the end of the series former Teen Titan Wendy awoke from her coma, screaming that she couldn’t feel her legs, and Barbara vowed to help her. So, what if she becomes the new Batgirl? Either way, I’ve got a feeling she’ll be tied to the new series, no matter what.

Judging from the two teasers so far, DC’s doing a great job of keeping us guessing! But what do you think?
