GeekSpeakBlog Star Wars Spam Fest for Celebration V!

The Fifth Star Wars Celebration is happening this weekend right here in Orlando, Florida. It’s convening at the Orange County Civic Center. In GSB’s continuing search for new lifeforms, and new…oh, ummm, wait…channeling the wrong stars…..let me try a new strategy….er, uhhh, star system, that is…..

Geek Speak Blog’s Geek Gyrl (that’s me!) will be at the convention all day, Saturday. The Main Event will be at 11am EST on the Celebration Stage (Chapin Theater); John Stewart (yeah, THAT John…) will be interviewing George Lucas, live. (Yeah, THAT George….) To give attendees every possible chance to see this momentous interview, they’ll be simulcasting it in 6 other areas around the convention, live. They have many other fun panels, activity areas and exhibits planned for Saturday, in addition to George and John (yes, I am studiously ignoring the opportunity for a joke about Paul and Ringo, but feel free to insert one, in the Force moves you.) I’m looking forward to wandering around, running amok with my trusty iPhone and my digital camera. I’ll be making live posts from the convention throughout the day, so watch the GSB Tumblr for real time images, comments, etc.; and check back here, to our site for the follow up “Best of the Force” postings, this weekend.

In particular, I’m hoping to see the 501st Stormtroopers; tattooing area; the droid building; lego play area; and several of the interviews and panels. I might even try my hand at the Star Wars Geek Speed Dating. (Hey, a single geek gyrl must keep her options open, right?) If you’re at the celebration, too, send a message to me, courtesy of our Tumblr page; and if you have pictures or fun anecdotes to share, submit them to us on the Tumblr site, too.
