Tron Legacy Coming to theatres in 2010It’s been years in the making, but the long awaited sequel to Tron is coming in 2010. Jeff Bridges reprises his role as Flynn in the sequel, and can be seen here in the trailer (oh, and by the way…I think I want a light cycle more now than I did when I was a kid!):

The official site is now up and running and, though there is little content at this point, you can sign up for email updates. Visit the site at http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/tron/.

At ComicCon the Disney folks created a video arcade called “Flynns”, filled with vintage video games. Each of the folks clever enough to find the arcade received a golden game token, and after playing a few free games, was invited through a secret door (hidden behind the Tron game).

A second room contained a full size mock up of the Light Cycle, and posters of the concept art from the film. There were also free T-shirts and some other incentives.

This kind of “experience” was a great promotion, because it was personal. While I can share the key chains and posters I from other vendors with my friends back home, only the folks who were there could share the experience. As a result, I’ve spent a lot of time telling them the story of Flynn’s, then I did handing out “gift schwag”…
