NASA Launches Tweetup For Space Shuttle Atlantis Liftoff
After moving the space shuttle Atlantis to the launch pad today for it’s planned liftoff on November 12th, NASA also announced plans for a new contest, allowing the winners to get front-row seats for the launch.
The space agency is holding it’s first ever liftoff Tweetup for people who use Twitter. The first 100 NASA Twitter followers who sign up will get a tour of Kennedy Space Center and a front-row seat for Atlantis’ launch. An additional 50 registrants will be added to a waiting list. NASA is hosting this unique Tweetup on Nov. 11 and 12 at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The two-day event will provide NASA Twitter followers with the opportunity to take a tour of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, view the space shuttle launch and speak with shuttle technicians, engineers, astronauts and managers. The Tweetup will include a “meet and greet” session to allow participants to mingle with fellow Tweeps and the staff behind the tweets on @NASA.
Space shuttle Atlantis is targeted to launch at 4:04 p.m. EST on Nov. 12 on its STS-129 mission to the International Space Station. Registration for the Tweetup opens at noon EDT on Friday, Oct. 16, on this page. NASA will accommodate the first 100 people who sign up. An additional 50 registrants will be added to a waitlist, however, winners will not be able to bring a guest, so make sure your friends or family also register.
