Coming Attractions:Even MORE Geeky Goodness Coming!
Your favorite chatty geeks (yes, yes I do mean us!) introduce a new regular feature to the site later this month. However, knowing how geeks love their sneak previews, we present to you now, for your entertainment and titillation, a peak at attractions to come here on GSB over the next couple months.
New Book and Movie Review sites are a cubit a dozen – and make no mistake, we have nothing but love for our fave review sites and encourage you to check out our links list, if you’re looking for a new review resource. We write those reviews, too. But….one night when GeekSpeaker and I were kibitzing about an episode of Chuck, the forthcoming Deathly Hallows Potter flicks and classic JSA versus current comic book canon, we realized that there aren’t all that many sites that offer readers full series reviews. Like Pringles, once you find a great series – on TV, in film, or on the printed page – you can’t devour just one. With the wealth of talented storytellers sharing their worlds with us, it’d be nice to have a tour guide of sorts.
GSB would like to be your tour guide. We won’t be bound by publication or release dates, and we certainly won’t be bound by formats or genres. We’ll be reviewing comic story arcs/trade paperbacks; book series; shows to watch and perhaps the occasional movie contender for “great series.”
To kick off our new area, I’ll be reviewing The Zodiac book series, an established series by a contemporary master of her craft. As a bonus, we’ll round out the Zodiac feature with an interview with the real life chronicler of the Zodiac stories, the author,Vicki Pettersson. Look for part 1 of the feature next week!
Fast on the stiletto heels of Ms. Pettersson’s series, we’ll showcase one of those rising stars I mentioned, earlier. Tom and Bryn Brown are the creative powerhouses behind the webcomic, Hopeless. We’ll be interviewing the Browns and featuring a week long comic art tutorial on the site, provided by the Browns.
Gail Carriger, another rising star, will be “dropping by” GSB in early September, in conjunction with our review of her steampunk paranormal series, The Parasol Protectorate, and the release of the third book in the series, Blameless.
If you’d like to make sure you don’t miss even one word, make sure you subscribe to GSB through one of the methods conveniently located on the front page. And tell your friends, we don’t mind…..we’re cool like that.
