Former Star Trek: The Next Generation cast member and self-professed super-geek Wil Wheaton announced via his Twitter account that he will be guest starring in an episode of my favorite show, The Big Bang Theory. (And if you don’t watch TBBT yet, check out this list of reasons why you should be watching!)

Not a lot was revealed about the role, other than Wheaton’s obvious joy at the casting.

An announcement of extraordinary magnitude: I will be on an episode of #thebigbangtheory this season. That’s all I’m allowed to say. GLEE!

He’s such a big geek (as anyone who follows him on Twitter will attest!) that he’s the perfect choice to go toe-to-toe with Leonard, Sheldon and the gang. Of course, we can already wonder if he’ll have some interaction with Penny. Perhaps he’ll be a rival for her affection? Personally, I just want to see Wheaton have a lot of interation with Jim Parson’s Sheldon. I think the two would play well off each other.

Either way, The Big Bang Theory is shapping up to have another phenomenal season, and I, for one, can’t wait for it to return on September 21st!
